About (Biography)

I was born in Houston, Texas.  Most of my life was spent on the farm south of there except for the summer I spent with my grandmother in California.  That summer instilled in me the desire to move there which I did later in my adult years.  This was after I spent five years in Alaska and two years in Oregon.

I am the oldest of seven children.  I played the role of teacher and adviser to my siblings as we were growing up.  I was forever the artist as I was drawing from the time I could hold a pencil.  I was the story teller and game creator or simply the paper doll maker as we constantly looked for things to keep us occupied.

I was always interested in art and for me it was the reason to get up and go to school.  I have worked in all art mediums and have an oil painting depicting a fall/winter scene hanging in my high school library.

As I grew older I began working with textile arts, selling my work at street faires.
While living in California I had a piece hanging in a gallery during a juried art exhibit.  At this time I joined a writers group and began to take my writing seriously.  I am always working on a story of some kind if I am not reading or sewing.

My office is filled with books and I am a collector of faeries.  They sit on my shelves among the books and inspire me to write magical tales filled with wizards, witches, ghosts, faeries and talking animals.

I left California in 2004 and am now living in the desert southwest with my husband and six cats and enjoying all the scenery and wildlife the desert has to offer right in my own backyard.  California, however, will always hold a special place in my heart.

My first novel, Haversham Hill, was an entrant in the Breakthrough Novel  Award competition sponsored by Penguin Books and Amazon in 2007-2008.

I took advantage of the offer to all entrants to self publish their work through Createspace.  My novel is now available in my Createspace E Store and also on Amazon.com.

I just published my second novel in October 2009.  The Medallion - Book One - The Prophecy is a medieval fantasy.  This is the first book in a series.

I am now working on the sequel to this novel which should be available late in 2010 or early 2011.

My latest book , SAVING THE RAINBOW, was just published on Sept 19, 2010.  It's my first children's book (for ages 8-12) but could be enjoyed by older people too.
